About
Retriever Run
Both Trish and Mark have always had dogs as the center of their lives. In fact, Labradors are what brought Trish and Mark together.
Mark has trained Labrador retrievers for over 36 years. Mark has the unique ability and talent to guide a dog through all aspects of its career – from puppyhood through being a finished, competitive all-age competitor. Mark has finished numerous Nationals, has won Purina Awards both for High Point Open and Derby dog, put hundreds of derby points and many open points on dogs, and finished multiple FC’s.
Some of the more notable dogs Mark competed with include Banner, Samantha, Rabbit, George, and more recently Retriever Run’s Miss American Pi. Mark also enjoys hunting over his English Setters.
Trish’s first dog was her beloved Irish Setter, Shamrock, who she played dog show with. Today Trish’s constant companion is her show chocolate, Mele. Trish got her first two Labradors in 2003. Trish her start showing and competing with her Labradors in Obedience all over New England in 2005 with her mom, Carole.
Carole also bought Trish her first field Lab in 2008, and Mark and Trish met in 2014 when Trish put her labs in training with Mark. It meant a lot to Carole that it was because of Trish’s Labs that Mark and Trish met. Trish and Mark were married in August of 2020.
In 2018, Trish and Mark launched Retriever Run Kennel. At Retriever Run Kennel, the program fits the dog rather than a dog having to fit into a rigid program regime. The focus of Retriever Run is to train field trial retrievers over every stage of their career. While Mark oversees the training of every dog, he and Trish enjoy training and trailing together. Together, Mark and Trish work from two home bases, Maine in the summer and Mississippi for the remainder of the year, and train and compete in all stakes, year-round at field trials from Maine to Texas.
In August of 2022, Mark and Trish purchased Candlewood’s Secret Approach (Candy) and Trumac’s Flawless Reflection (Terra). Candy and Terra are now part of the Retriever Run family, and Trish has the opportunity to run two highly talented and competitive all-age dogs. Candy, Terra, and Pi run the all- age stakes both with Trish and Mark. Candy earned a second place in the Open, an Amateur fourth with Trish and Terra, Candy and Pi have multiple Amateur finishes with Trish.
